Untitled(for "A Double Helix of Kinsey")/2019

東北地方の伝統的な裂織文化に倣い、写真を解体して別の新しい写真として再構成することで、本質的なエロティシズムについて考察するための作品です。

“Sakiori” is a traditional woven fabric from Tohoku region of Japan. It is produced from worn out cloth and garments torn thinly and then woven into other products. During Edo period, it was popular because cotton fabrics were hard to get in Tohoku. There is a spirit of taking good care of things for a long time. This is a work to think what is eroticism. I printed some images on a cloth that I feel erotic intuitively, then tore the cloth and mixed them, and weaved as one object. Eroticism is fickle and impalpable, so often philosophical for me. I think that such essential eroticism should not be consumed one after another.
